I’m a graduate of the Elements Yoga teacher training program, a 200 hour RYT, and have been practicing yoga regularly since 2007. My very first yoga classes (some time in 2004 I think) were with a co-worker at the time who offered free weekly yoga classes after work while he was completing his teacher training. When he left the company we both worked for my practice of yoga left with him. I was re-introduced to yoga in 2007 when a good friend and I decided we should take classes as a way to increase our physical activity and spend “girl” time together. I showed up early that Saturday morning for our first class with Yogi Brian however, my friend did not (yes we’re still friends and she has promised me she will come to my classes). Since I was already at the studio, I decided to give the class a try. It was different from anything I’d ever experienced and not what I remembered from the few classes I took years earlier. I was a bit perplexed at the Om’ing and chanting and heavy use of some language I was not familiar with (yes Sanskrit). I left the class feeling pretty good and decided to continue exploring this yoga practice named Dharma Mittra Yoga. Another friend introduced me to Anusara Yoga in 2008 at a workshop with Certified Anusara teacher Desiree Rumbaugh and I was instantly hooked on the life affirming philosophy, alignment principles and community. I’m very fortunate that Bernadette Birney and Ross Rayburn taught my immersions and teacher training at Elements Yoga, Darien CT. I’ve also attended workshops and classes with Betsey Downing, Sally Kempton, and Ellen Saltonstall. I've also practiced Dharma Mittra, Jivamukti, Ashtanga, and Tripsichore yoga. |

Originally from North Carolina, I now live in Norwalk, CT and have been a “Yankee” for more than 20 years now (has it really been that long?) however my blood still runs Carolina Blue (Go Heels!) and #3 Dale Earnhardt will always be my favorite NASCAR driver. I’m thankful to my partner Bill for his patience and support during my teacher training and all the time I spend away from home in workshops and classes. I decided to teach yoga so I can share with others, both the physical and mental benefits I’ve discovered and continue to discover through this incredible practice. Wanna come along with me on this journey? |
